Local events in Poland

In the framework of the ClimATE Change project Polish Green Network organized in 2014 three open public events in Wroclaw, Krakow and Warsaw. The events were prepared in cooperation with various local partners and their aim was to disseminate the knowledge about the project themes among the wider public in Poland. We wanted to show the participants how they can support sustainable agriculture which protects climate and natural resources both locally and globally. Wroclaw The event in Wroclaw was titled "Community Supported Agriculture Day" and was co-organized with the PGN member organization, Fundacja EkoRozowju (Foundation for Sustainable Development). It was held on the 24th May 2014 during the ecological fair "EkoJarmark". This ecological fair, organized by Fundacja EkoRozwoju already for more than 12 years, is one of the biggest annual events in Poland that promotes organic and local products as well as sustainable agriculture. The international conference "Future Agriculture Farmer- and Climate-friendly" will be held on the 12-13 December 2014 in Warsaw, Poland. The Conference is organized by Polish Green Network in the framework of the ClimATE Change project. Agriculture is an important source of the greenhouse gas emissions and at the same time climate change threatens food production in Europe and other regions of the world. Agriculture – one of the causes and victims of climate change – can also be one the best tools for climate protection. The conference will try to answer the question, how farmers and food consumers around the world can protect climate and natural resources. What are the interdependencies between climate change and agriculture? How can farmers protect climate? How can they manage local natural resources in ways which are sustainable and protect biodiversity? These are some of the questions Polish Green Network tried to address together with the participants of three workshops organized in Poland in the framework of the ClimATE Change project.
In the context of the UN Climate Conference in Warsaw (COP19) in November 2013 Polish Green Network published the Polish translation of the Oxfam report about the impact of climate change on the causes of hunger in the world.
The open public event "(Not only) NUTRITIONAL VALUES. Food cooperatives or supermarkets? Your choice matters!" co-organized by Polish Green Network will be held on the 30th August 2014 in Warsaw. The event will consist of various workshop, lectures, presentations, discussions and food tasting and it will be combined with the opening of the first grocery store in Poland managed by a food cooperative.
The public event "Open Cooperation Picnic" co-organized by Polish Green Network will be held on the 8th June 2014 in Krakow. The event will consist of various workshops, presentations, lectures, discussions and local food fair.
The open public event "Community Supported Agriculture Day" co-organized by Polish Green Network will be held on the 24th May 2014 during the ecological fair "EkoJarmark" in Wroclaw. The event will consist of workshops, presentations, local product tasting, discussions and film screening.
Workshop "Climate for farmers - agriculture and climate change" for the participants from the Lower Silesia region will be held on 11-12 March 2014 in Wroclaw.
Workshop "Climate for farmers - agriculture and climate change" for the participants from the Lesser Poland and Upper Silesia regions will be held on 27-28 February 2014 in Krakow.
Workshop "Climate for farmers - agriculture and climate change" for the participants from the Mazovia region will be held on 7-8 December 2013 in Warsaw.
