Next 10th of December, United Nations celebrates Human Rights Day. On this occasion, the No Hate Speech Movement organises a European Action Day for Human Rights Online to combat hate speech on the Internet.
An average person spends around 1 hour and 40 minutes a day on the social networks. During that time, everybody is exposed to comments, images, or jokes which can be offensive for somebody.
How can I get involved to combat hate speech online?
You can write an article, blog or essay about a personal experience, an introduction to national situations, or an opinion about social media attitude to online hate speech.
You can send a photo, graphic, drawing or painting with an easily readable text on it in English or French.
Your work should:
- Express the importance of respecting human rights online
- Reflects of the responsibility of each Internet user
- Highlight the responsibility of social media, online game providers and service providers to promote Human Rights online
How to apply?
If your work is selected it will be published with your name on the Blog of the No Hate Speech Movement website and its social media channels (Facebook, Twitter), on the European Action Day for Human Rights Online on 10 December 2015
